times they have changed

Times are different now post pandemic. Everyone seems dis-settled, easily stirred up, quick to get irritated and throw in politics already beginning for the next presidential election and wow! What a cauldron is brewing.  Here at DIVA YARN my suggestion for all of us is to take a deep breath, breathe freely and chill with some great yarn and get to work and relax with a knitting or crochet project. Embroidery, anyone? We have you covered. Soon to be adding in some needlepoint supplies. I have done needlepoint for decades and am always happy to help, On order are 200 new buttons for the shop plus a bevy of new yarn for our fall and winter knitting/fiber work season.  Anyhow, as a reminder, here are our shop hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 11- 5 Sunday and Wednesday 12-4 CLOSED TUESDAYS Always open on line and through email, Facebook and Instagram.  And one of these days... I will get to actually know how to add more photos to my blog now that Blogger has made chan...
Summer is really here with the temps expected to rise to the high 80's or low 90's next week. In my shops downtown, it makes for warm times as we are in that wonderful old 1889 building. No one wants to see me in shorts but I will be thinking of my one ago youth when short and halter tops were my go to summer wear.  These days, when I am not at the shop you will find me knitting in the sweet blue Amish made rocker on my front porch. I even hooked up a fan out there. It keeps the mosquitos away. I am a daydreamer the entire time I knit so I am having mini vacations on the porch.  Sorry this posting is so brief, but it is Sunday and I promised to work Diva so off I go. Today I am open from 12 - 3ish. Come say hello and see the new Cascade yarns that have arrived. Pictures next time. XO, Lois in summery Port Townsend.

Summer tTme and Finding Time

Image
It has been a quite a few months since I posted on the DIVA blog. I have no excuse except to say that things just get busy and summer always finds me more in the shops than working on projects. I like to knit while watching the television and with this longer, still light out summer evenings, I am inclined to do a little weeding, a little outdoor activity and last night even found me washing a window or two! new yarns have arrived in the shop and we concentrated not only on fabulous Malabrigo, arriving just last week, but also on cottons, like Hannah by Plymouth and cotton blends from several companies/ Theresa is continuing with our free knitting Thursdays and i will be on hand to help with crochet too. Please feel free to check ur Facebook event page for dates and times or give the shop a call. We are open 11 -5:30 at 360-385-4844. I did finish one thing however, recently and that is my little knit banner made of locally felted wool. I had a pair of windows in our french doors ...

This January

Image
This January is bringing a renewed sense of energy for me as I begin new projects and finish old, as I rearrange the shop but treasure the old display pieces contained within and once again, find the simple joy of a few quiet moments to sit and knit. This is my almost finished wee baby bonnet! Knit of a fine german wool on a size three needle; it is one of my favorite go to patterns. Last night found me knitting in Safeway as I waited for a friend to grocery shop. I enjoyed a lovely hot chocolate, knitting and people watching. I have promised myself to not go anywhere without my knitting this year, even if it means I knit just a few stitches at a time. This is last year's " Car Project. " So named ( by me ) because it stays in my car ever at the ready to knit  whenever there is a moment or if I find myself in an unexpected visit say,  to the emergency room. Don't ask. Since I also task my knitting to be my de-stressor, I need to keep something always hand...
