This January
This January is bringing a renewed sense of energy for me as I begin new projects and finish old, as I rearrange the shop but treasure the old display pieces contained within and once again, find the simple joy of a few quiet moments to sit and knit.
This is my almost finished wee baby bonnet! Knit of a fine german wool on a size three needle; it is one of my favorite go to patterns. Last night found me knitting in Safeway as I waited for a friend to grocery shop. I enjoyed a lovely hot chocolate, knitting and people watching. I have promised myself to not go anywhere without my knitting this year, even if it means I knit just a few stitches at a time.
This is last year's " Car Project. " So named ( by me ) because it stays in my car ever at the ready to knit whenever there is a moment or if I find myself in an unexpected visit say, to the emergency room. Don't ask. Since I also task my knitting to be my de-stressor, I need to keep something always handy! This is a loooong scarf made of left over sock yarn. Fortunately, I have plenty more sock yarn where this came from so I think I can safely say this year's project will likely be another looong scarf of assorted sock yarn. A scarf of many colors! Someone always needs a scarf.
Lastly, this is a picture of Diva looking from the middle of the shop to the front. I mentioned old display fixtures and furnishings in the shop that I treasure; that work for us every day, finding joy in their presence. In this picture you can see the wonderful desk that Jack built and the old english dining set I bought from a friend a very long time ago. Worn, mellowed old wood on that grand english dame brings a sense of steadfastness, of craft long ago wrought but still being functional and beautiful all these years in the shop. Bringing a smile to my face at the many memories of customers, friends, sales reps and employees who have shared time at this table.
I am wishing you all the best year ever for 2019. One filled with friendships, witty conversation, good meals, fine chocolate, the love of family and lots of crafty time. Don't do a craft? Stop in and we will help you get started!
